This week, we’re moving into operations at the request of a regular viewer, and the topic today is procurement.
Now procurement, or purchasing if you like, is somewhat the poor cousin of business departments for SMEs. Sales of course is the golden child – it gets all the glory. Marketing gets a good run and broadly speaking operations is given a fair shake. Even finance and HR get some attention and resources as required. But bringing up the back of the pack is procurement.
Today I want to go into bat for procurement and draw attention to the value it can bring to the proverbial business table.
There are three areas that procurement has an impact on. Three games if you like, that procurement needs to play. Operational, Financial and Strategic.
